Aula, Museos y Colecciones

En este trabajo analizamos la información disponible, pretérita y actual, sobre Fauna, Flora y Gea del Gabinete de Historia Natural del Instituto Provincial de Málaga. También las colecciones histórico-científicas del Gabinete de Física y Química, Museo Agronómico y los variados materiales didácticos existentes (láminas murales, modelos y maquetas de anatomía humana, animal y botánica). Reseñamos los catedráticos más comprometidos con la existencia y persistencia en el tiempo de los mismos, sin olvidar los dos preparadores-naturalistas que ejercieron la taxidermia. Tenemos particularmente presente al profesor Antonio Acosta García (1924-2004) que en los años 80 rescató el Gabinete de Historia Natural de la desidia y el abandono. Durante 1987/89 las colecciones fueron restauradas por quien suscribe, e inventariamos el grupo de los vertebrados. Este Gabinete, ahora con el nombre de Museo de Historia Natural “Antonio Acosta”, aún constituye un valioso exponente del patrimonio científico, histórico y cultural malacitano por la singularidad y diversidad de sus colecciones decimonónicas.

In this work we analyse the available information, past and present, on Fauna, Flora and Gea from the Cabinet of Natural History of the Provincial Institute in Malaga along with the history and scientific collections from the Cabinet of Physics and Chemistry, Agriculture Museum and the varied existing didactic material (wall charts, models and scale-models of human, animal and botanic anatomy). We review the works of well-known professors with existence and persistence in their times, without forgetting about the two natural assistants that practised taxidermy. We are particularly indebted to professor Antonio Acosta García (1924-2004) who, in the 80´s rescued the Cabinet of Natural History from neglect and abandonment. During 1987/89 the collections were restored by subscribers and the group of vertebrates were documented. This Cabinet, now with the name of Museum of Natural History “Antonio Acosta”, still represents a valuable index of science, history and culture of Malaga due to its peculiar diversity from its nineteenth century collections.
