ABSTRACT
Cerambyx cerdo L. was recorded in 1872 like common in Minorca Island, but as since then was not recognized news findings is believed that it is extint. Now their capture in 1984 and posterior detection, even thougn scarce, are notified, possibly still survived inrestricted area. Again the species is conmon in Majorica, but is absent to lbiza and Formentera lslands. Until towards the end of the past century numerous authors (Mulsant, 1862; Acloque, 1896; Heyden et al., 1906; Planet, 1924; Picard, 1929; Portevin, 1934; Porta, 1934; Panin and Savulescu, 1960, etc.), they had believed that the ssp. cerdo cerdo L. and the ssp. mirbeckii Lucas would be coexisting in France and Italy. It was partially rectified later (Villiers, 1978; Sama, 1988). 0n the one band, with regard to Spain, then and now, most taxonomists (Vives, 1984; 2000, 2001; Perez, 1993; Bahillo & Iturrondobeitia, 1996; Galante & Verdú, 2000; Canyelles, 2003; Gonzalez et al., 2OO7; Nuñez, 2007; Robledo, 2014; etc.), mistakenly were believed that the spanish beetles are the ssp. mirbeckii. It is true that some current writer´s correctally refer it to cerdo cerdo, such as Sama and Löbl (2010), Verdugo (2013), etc. but is not fitly described. The author’s confusion may be due to several reasons: the typical insects of both race they are unknowned; the taxomical characters used are imprecise; for the accept the auctoritas from the time-honored taxonomists. For this reason brief descriptions for the precise identification of subspecies and variations are provided. In the current work the correct denomination, Cerambyx cerdo cerdo, of the species from the Balearic Islands, such continental Spain, is demostrated. Due to the balear distribution of the Cerambyx cerdo L., seems show significant relation between the human influence on the natural hosts (Quercus ilex and, secundarily, others trees) and his corology, that’s why an brief phytological remark is added.
