Se hace un recorrido sobre las fuentes bibliográficas con referencias a los mamíferos terrestres del lago de l’Albufera de Valencia y su entorno entre el siglo XIV y el XXI. Los cambios en esta fauna estuvieron inicialmente producidos por el aprovechamiento de los recursos, ya sean cinegéticos o piscícolas. Llegado el siglo XX se produce un proceso de progresiva humanización del espacio, reflejado en el retroceso y desaparición de especies nativas y aumento de las antropófilas, que llega a su máximo en los años 70-80 del pasado siglo con el proceso de urbanización de la Devesa y degradación del lago. Este proceso resulta en una simplificación de la comunidad de mamíferos y en una reducción de la talla media de las especies presentes. A partir de los años 80 se revierte el proceso de degradación con iniciativas municipales y autonómicas de protección del espacio y restauración de ecosistemas. Como resultado de este cambio de tendencia, llegado el siglo XXI se constata la reaparición de especies extinguidas a pesar del alto grado de aislamiento de espacio.

This work constitutes an exploration of the bibliographical sources referencing the terrestrial mammals of the Albufera lake of Valencia and its surroundings between the 14th and 21st centuries. The changes in this fauna were initially produced by the exploitation of resources, whether hunting or fishing. In the 20th century there was a process of progressive humanization of the site, reflected in the decline and disappearance of native species and the increase in anthropophilic species, which reached its peak in the 1970s and 1980s with the urbanization of the Devesa and the pollution of the lake. This process resulted in a simplification of the mammal community and a reduction in the average size of the species present. Starting in the 1980s, the degradation process was reversed with municipal and regional initiatives to protect the site and restore ecosystems. As a result of this change, the 21st century has seen the reappearance of extinct species despite the high degree of spatial isolation.
